Spherical Warp

Wraps a Solid or a field onto a sphere centred at the origin: its X becomes distance from the centre, its Y distance around the equator, and its Z distance down from the north pole (+Z); only X ≥ 0 and Z ≥ 0 of the input are used. A Solid stays a Solid and a field stays a field. With Re-distance on, the result is re-distanced so it still reads as a true distance; off, the values are left as the wrap maps them.

Inputs

Input Solid

The Solid or field to wrap.

Takes: any block that gives Solid (102 blocks)
Y length Number

Length in mm along Y that becomes one full turn around the equator.

Z length Number

Length in mm along Z that becomes one full circle through both poles; half of it runs pole to pole.

Re-distance Yes/No

On: the result is re-distanced, so a Solid still reads as a true distance. Off: the values are left as the wrap maps them, so a distance along Y or Z is read in the map's own units.

Output

Solid

Used by: any block that takes Solid (95 blocks)

Properties

Values the block gives besides its output. The editor lists them under Properties, and an input can read one by reference.

BoundingBox Bounding Box

The axis-aligned extent of the Solid.

ScalarField Number

The Solid's signed distance, as a field.

Inverted Solid

The Solid turned inside out: what was inside is now outside.
